CHOICE Cohorts

Cohort 0  was open fall 2021 through the spring of 2022 and served as our pilot of the CHOICE program  We opted to operate a one year pilot in order to test key program components, finalize pathways of engagement, and garner feedback from program participants relevant to improving program practices for Cohorts 1 and 2.

In the summer of 2021, we began recruiting high school teachers from math, science, computer science, and CTE content areas to participate in Cohort 0. We are proud to share that our pilot cohort consisted of 74 secondary STEM teachers divided into four communities of practice (COP). Each CoP was assigned two Instructional Coaches and they had approximately 15 teachers each that they worked with on an individual basis. CoPs met quarterly as a group, but there were other opportunities for teachers to connect within the CoP such as small group meetings and discussion boards. The CoPs were housed under an overall professional learning community that allowed for program participants to engage with each other regardless of CoP assignment.

The 74 Cohort 0 teachers were representative of 58 schools from 46 divisions across the Commonwealth.
